Looking for something different and educational to do this summer? How about a tour of the RI State House?

The 50-minute tours occur from 9-2 pm each weekday, except holidays. The tour stops include the Rhode Island Charter Museum, which features the Royal Charter of 1663 and other historical documents and artifacts; the State Room, where Gilbert Stuart’s famous portrait of George Washington hangs; and the Rotunda, where you can gaze upward at one of the world’s largest self-supported marble domes.

Be sure to visit the Visitor’s Center gift shop for Rhode Island produced books, postcards, and other unique gifts and mementoes. Tours are available during school vacation weeks as a fun and educational family activity.

For more information, visit the State of Rhode Island website at www.sos.ri.gov or call 401-222-3983.
